Video Editor
Edit engaging short-form and long-form videos, including founder interviews, factory tours, and graphics-driven business stories.
About the Role
Into The Margins shares the stories behind entrepreneurship through founder interviews, factory tours, business features, and behind-the-scenes content. We’re looking for a Video Editor to turn raw footage into clear, engaging videos for social media and longer-form platforms.
Projects include short videos, videos around 10 minutes, occasional podcast-style conversations, and direct-to-camera content supported by graphics, animation, B-roll, or stock footage.
Responsibilities
- Edit short-form and longer-form videos, shaping footage into a clear story with strong pacing and an engaging opening.
- Edit interviews, factory tours, business stories, behind-the-scenes features, and direct-to-camera videos.
- Tighten dialogue and remove mistakes, unnecessary pauses, and distracting sections while keeping conversations natural.
- Add relevant B-roll, stock footage, titles, lower thirds, captions, transitions, graphics, animation, music, and sound effects as needed.
- Clean and balance dialogue, reduce background noise, and mix music and effects without overpowering speech.
- Correct color and exposure, maintain natural skin tones, and create a consistent look across cameras and environments.
- Export videos to the requested formats and platforms, organize media and project files, and make revisions when needed.
- Communicate clearly about project status, questions, and problems, and meet agreed deadlines.
Qualifications
- Experience editing interviews, documentary-style content, business videos, or similar projects.
- Strong storytelling, pacing, and visual judgment, including knowing when to use supporting footage or graphics and when to keep the edit simple.
- Practical skills in dialogue cleanup, audio mixing, color correction, and color grading.
- Attention to detail, continuity, file organization, and consistent delivery.
- Ability to work independently, manage projects, and incorporate feedback.
- Experience with factory tours, founder interviews, podcasts, educational content, motion graphics, or animation is a plus.
Tools
Experience with professional editing software is expected. Tools may include Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Audition, Descript, or comparable software. You do not need to use every tool listed. You should be comfortable working with licensed stock footage, music, graphics, and other media assets.
Workflow
Projects typically involve organizing and reviewing footage, identifying the story, building and refining the edit, adding supporting visuals, correcting color, cleaning and mixing audio, checking the final video, exporting, and making revisions. The amount of animation and additional visual work will depend on the project.
